Affiliate Marketing start up
« on: April 10, 2010, 02:23:48 AM »
For starters, you need to know exactly what affiliate marketing is. A very basic explanation is; when you promote and sell other people’s (merchants and vendors) products and services to either make a sale or obtain a lead. You are going to find out that this is a very competitive business with many thousands of affiliates are already doing this. When a merchant wants to increase their sales and gain more exposure, they allow people to sign up as an affiliate and help market their products. The affiliate is paid a commission or flat rate for either making a sale or generating a lead. Depending on the product or service, the commissions and flat rates will vary quite a bit.

There are many ways that an affiliate can earn their income. Some affiliates utilize their blogs or web sites while others use e-mail, adwords, newsletters, articles and on and on. The most popular method used by affiliates is a blog or a web site. When you are ready to choose a niche, try to choose one that you are somewhat familiar with. There has been some debate about that but I won’t go into those issues here. You want to ultimately be known as someone who has expertise in your chosen market. Once you have decided on your niche, you’ll need to purchase a domain name. There are many places to get your domain name. After you decide where to purchase your domain, it’s always best to try and come up with a URL that contains the topic in the domain name. For example, if you’re promoting weight loss, you want to have something related to losing weight or diets in your URL. It’s always best to try and keep all things relevant.
